Ford Mustang V8 Powers into New Zealand!

26/09/2024

The highly anticipated seventh-generation Ford Mustang has officially landed in New Zealand, and it's all about the iconic V8!

Laurie Transou, the chief engineer for the Mustang V8, proudly stated, "We like to say that we're doubling down on the V8," and that’s exactly what Kiwis can expect.

In New Zealand, the new Mustang lineup is exclusively V8-powered. The GT fastback and convertible, priced at $92,990 and $99,990 respectively, come equipped with a revamped 5.0-litre V8 Coyote engine, delivering an impressive 362kW/567Nm. For those craving even more power, the track-focused Dark Horse variant pushes the performance further, boasting a staggering 373kW/567Nm. Priced at $116,990, it's already sold out!

For muscle-car purists, the seventh-gen Mustang’s lack of electrification is cause for celebration. But Transou points out that while there’s no electric component now, it’s not essential to what makes the V8 shine. “Electrification is very important when you think about CO2 and overall fleet balancing,” she says. “Right now [the Mustang V8] is not electrified, but who knows what we’ll end up doing in the future?"

Transou highlighted Ford's commitment to balancing their fleet with low-emission vehicles while keeping the V8 alive. "Customers love the V8, so as long as we can continue to balance the fleet [with low-emissions cars], we will continue to offer it."

The Mustang V8 remains a beloved staple, and Ford is ensuring it thrives for the passionate enthusiasts.
