The lucky winner of the Meat the Need National Charity Auction's biggest item has been announced!
According to studies by the Ministry of Health, nearly 1 in 5 Kiwi households face moderate to severe food insecurity, a challenge made worse by high living costs and limited access to fresh food. These pressures disproportionately affect children, with over 20% regularly experiencing food insecurity, leading to significant long-term health and educational consequences.
Meat the Need’s National Charity Auction aimed to raise funds to support the delivery of protein-rich meals to over 130 food banks and community organisations across New Zealand. The 10-day auction in November exceeded all expectations!
Bids raised enough to provide over 62,000 protein meals to families in need. The TradeMe listings attracted 149 bids and 4,431 views across seven auction items. The top item, a Ford Ranger Raptor, went to one lucky bidder for an incredible $87,800. Congratulations, Stephen Barber! Stephen picked up the keys to his brand-new Ford Ranger Raptor at South Auckland Motors.
